Designing the MFT Banking Transaction Module for Syncrofy

Situation

CoEnterprise needed a new MFT (Managed File Transfer) Banking Transaction Module integrated into their existing Syncrofy platform. I was tasked with creating the design for this module. However, I initially had limited knowledge of MFT banking, and there was little initial guidance from stakeholders about what the module should specifically include. Each client using the platform had unique needs and high transaction volumes (sometimes 90 transactions an hour), which added to the complexity. I needed to make sure the design could handle high-transaction data flows securely while fitting seamlessly into Syncrofy’s established UI style.

TASK

My primary goal was to research and understand MFT banking, define the data and workflows necessary for the module, and design a user interface that was intuitive, secure, and consistent with the existing Syncrofy platform. Additionally, I was responsible for creating a Notifications section and designing Alerts and Events pages that users could rely on to monitor and troubleshoot transaction statuses. Ensuring the design was both user-friendly and AA-compliant for accessibility was also essential.

ACTION

  • Research and Self-Education: First, I took the initiative to research MFT banking and learn what type of data is typically included in transferred files. This helped me understand the module’s core requirements, even with limited input from stakeholders.
  • Design Consistency and Efficiency: I analyzed the existing Syncrofy UI to identify reusable elements that would allow for a cohesive design across the platform. By taking screenshots of the current design and converting them into Figma, I ensured that my layouts would be compatible with the app’s style. I also observed that Syncrofy’s designs often required scrolling horizontally for more information, so I built that functionality into my design to align with the rest of the platform.
  • User and Stakeholder Feedback: I conducted an interview with a Banking Manager to ensure that the design was aligned with real-world banking needs. Then, throughout the process, I presented different sections of the design to stakeholders, incorporating their feedback on the direction and features they preferred.
  • Security and Accessibility: Given the sensitivity of banking transactions, I was careful to avoid displaying specific information that could pose a security risk. I also designed the interface to be AA-compliant for accessibility, so it could be used easily by a broader audience.

RESULTS

The completed design included the new MFT Banking Transaction Module with a Notifications section, along with Alerts and Events pages that allowed users to monitor and troubleshoot transactions in real time. The stakeholders were pleased with how my design seamlessly integrated with the rest of Syncrofy, which made it possible to reuse elements across different areas of the platform, saving time and ensuring consistency. The final result provided a robust, user-friendly way for clients to handle high volumes of banking transactions securely and efficiently within the existing Syncrofy framework.
